The purpose of the present study was to examine a model pertaining to the
mediatory role of parental influence (PINF) on children’s PA participation. It is
hypothesized that parental influence directly and indirectly affects children’s level of
PA participation via its effect on psychosocial correlates, that is, children’s PA
perception (PAP) and physical self-perception (PSP) (see Figure 1). Moreover, the study
also aims to examine whether there is a gender difference in parental influence on
children’s PA participation.
