Among the 24.1 millions informal sector workers in
Thailand, 4.2 million of them have experienced injuries or
accidents. The majority (2.8 million) of these injured workers
were cut or wounded by sharp materials. Five hundred and
twenty nine thousand had fallen from heights. Three hundred
and thirty two thousand were injured from being hit by
machineries or tools in their workplaces. One hundred and
ninety five thousand of were injured in automobile accidents.
Sixty five thousand informal sector workers had been
exposed to chemical substances.P

workers who are injured at work have access to compensation
under the 1994 Workmen’s Compensation Act.P
