Could Any of These 4 'Walking Dead' Characters Make a Reappearance in 'Fear the Walking Dead'?
With the first short but exciting promo for Fear the Walking Dead having been released at long last, the anticipation for the new companion series to The Walking Dead is quickly building.
At the moment we know a little about what Fear will be about. Firstly we know it will be set in Los Angeles, and will be initially set a little earlier than The Walking Dead, allowing audiences to see the outbreak in the early stages (which we didn't see in The Walking Dead due to Rick's coma). The main characters will be Sean Cabrera (Cliff Curtis), his son Cody and ex-wife Andrea, as well as Nancy Tomkims (Kim Dickens) and her children Nick (Frank Dillane) and Ashley Tomkins (Alycia Debnam-Casey).
However, there is still a lot that we have no idea about, including what other characters we might meet and what challenges they will encounter, including whether or not we might see characters from seasons past in The Walking Dead resurface in Fear. Take a look at this list of possible people (or groups) who we could see or hear mentioned in the upcoming companion series:
1. Dr. Edwin Jenner
We only knew Dr. Jenner for a short period of time before he opted to commit suicide by remaining in the CDC building with Jacqui while it self-destructed. So while we definitely wont be seeing Jenner as a long-term character in Fear the Walking Dead, there's a definitely possibility we could see him in the initial episodes, which will be taking place in the early days of the outbreak.
It's totally possible Jenner could have gone to LA to study patients (in the early days of the virus before air travel was shut down), or even more likely, we could see him on a video call with other scientists at different research centers around the world trying to work out what exactly is happening.
2. Morales
This is the character that the internet believes has the biggest chance of having a come back in either The Walking Dead or Fear the Walking Dead, mostly due to a tweet that actor Juan G. Pareja posted back in October which included a picture of Morales and the words "not dead." After failing to appear in Season 5 of The Walking Dead the hot money is that he'll crop up on the other side of the country in LA.
Viewers will remember that Morales and his family left Rick and the group in Season 1, episode 5 when they opted to try and find relatives in Birmingham. Nothing has been heard of the family of four since then, but as the reappearance of Morgan has taught us, that doesn't necessarily mean they've become walker food. If Morales and/or his family do end up on the other side of the country in LA, it seems more likely that they'll pop up in Season 2 or later, considering that the show will document the first 60 days of the outbreak which The Walking Dead skipped when Rick was in his coma.
3. Dale Horvath
Sweet, wise Dale, gone too soon.
While Dale was brutally killed by walkers in Season 2, there's a chance that he could make an appearance in early episodes of Fear the Walking Dead. When the outbreak happened Dale was on a cross-country road trip in his trusty RV, following the death of his wife, Irma. It's entirely possible that Dale arrived in Atlanta after he had already been on the west coast and he could pop up in Fear.
It's also worth mentioning that actor Jeffrey DeMunn quit the show, but soon after changed his mind, however by this time Dale had already been written out. Perhaps a reappearance in Fear the Walking Dead could be a way of DeMunn getting reinvolved in the show.
4. 'The French'
Ok, they're not so much a character as an entire country of people, but if you remember back to Season 1, episode 6, Dr. Jenner briefly claimed that there was a possibility that French scientists had gotten further with their research. Though they had run out of power by the time we met Jenner, I'm sure there's a chance the French researchers could reappear in the first few episodes of Fear the Walking Dead during the early days of the outbreak.
