We need a fantastic eye-grabing book cover designed for a book which describes the history of religious beliefs.
We don't want a wacky new age design with lots of symbols, just an attractive book cover that works well as a thumbnail.
We need both the ebook cover (in five formats which we will provide at a later stage) and the paperback cover designed although at this stage all we want to see if the ebook cover in 2d (not 3d). We will be glad to pt the name of the winning designed on the back cover.
The book description is below:
Strange But True – A historical background to popular beliefs and traditions by Dr Monica Stapelberg
Why do we:
• Christen ships and sailing vessels or refer to them as ‘she’?
• Avoid the number thirteen, breaking mirrors or walking under ladders?
• Wear wedding rings on our ‘ring-fingers’ or show someone ‘the finger’?
• Use the phrase having a ‘skeleton in the cupboard’ or ‘if looks could kill’?
• Dress baby boys in blue, speak of ‘true blue’ or ‘blue-blooded’?
• Wear black at funerals or ‘touch wood’?
• Decorate the Christmas Tree or eat Easter Eggs?
• ‘Trick or treat’ on Halloween or kiss under the mistletoe?
In this easy-to-read book, author, lecturer and public speaker, Dr. Monica-Maria Stapelberg, shares the results of her many years of research and her extensive travels to uncover the historical background behind numerous commonly-held beliefs and traditions, ranging from general popular beliefs to the more specific and enlightening traditions of western culture.
Strange but True also brings to light, how many of our day-to-day words, phrases and actions are anchored in past ritual or sacrificial observances, or simply based on fearful superstitious notions.
