5. The extent of political control over the social and economic spheres of life is relatively limited. Many aspects of social and economic activity are regarded as beyond governmental control. This means that government should not regulate such social matters as where a citizen should live, how many children he (and his wife) should have, what religion he should profess, or where and how he earns a legitimate living. In economic maters the government should maintain only a supervisory role over its operation and leave most decisions to the workings of the “free market.”
