With regard to rehabilitation, 68% of the respondents believed that the main goals for dealing with criminals should be to treat and rehabilitate them. With regard to control variables, almost 80% of the respondents believed that innocent people are sometimes sentenced to death. Based on the specific measure used in this study, 85% of the respondents trusted the government. Approximately 69% of the respondents agreed or strongly agreed that China had a great deal of crime. It is not surprising that only about 5% of the respondents thought religion had played a fair amount or a great deal of role in their life. About 98% of the respondents fell between 18 and 24 years old. Approximately 49% of the respondents were women, and 55% of the respondents lived the longest as a child in urban areas including small, medium, and large cities.
