During the audit process, the project team learned that many of the bedside nurses continued to have difficulty identifying appropriate patients to use the rFLACC with because there was confusion about which patients would qualify for the rFLACC versus the FLACC”.For example, some nurses were uncertain if ฟ nonverbal patient with autism would qualify, but did understand that a patient who was extremely developmentally challenged associated with cerebral palsy would qualify. the audit data provided evidence that staff education needs to be an ongoing process with a variety of methods Used to sustain the practice change. Staff nurses on the project team experienced firsthand the challenges of implementing change and later discovered that continuous assessment is required to monitor practice in an effort to sustain the practice change.
