Then, the extraction time (equilibration period for 2, 4 and
10 min) and extraction solvent volume (10, 15 and 20 ml organic
solvent) were also evaluated. It was observed that the recovery
of the target compounds increased when the extraction time was
increased from 2 to 4 min while further increase of extraction
times did not affect the recovery values. Consequently, the extraction
time of 4 min was selected for further experiments. An extraction
volume of 10 ml acetonitrile and 7.5 ml of water was adequate
enough to ensure the accurate determination of all mycotoxins.
Higher volumes of the extractant resulted in no significant improvement on analyte recoveries and the precision of measurements
(RSDs > 20%).
