Most brands of toothpaste and soap contain glycerine - a sweet, slicky liquid made from animal fats, especially pig fat. Many people prefer not to use animal products, if possible, for health or other reasons. Muslims, in particular, are forbidden by their religion, to taste anything that derives from the pig.
There are two new products on the market which are made from pure vegetable oil. "Amber" soap and "Amber" toothpaste do everything that you would expect of normal soap and toothpaste, but they are completely free from animal derivatives. And, at 40 percent per bar and 57 percent per tube, they are not more expensive than their counterparts.
