Praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah and upon his family and companions and those who follow Him.
Ramadan is the month in which was sent down the noble Qu’ran, as a guide to humankind and fasting in this holy month is an obligation practiced by those who truly are devoted to the Oneness of Allah. Its annual observance is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam.
For me, it is a time for spiritual reflection, a time to purify, a time for improvement and enhancement in my devotion and worship. It is a time for increase in supplications and begging for deliverance from His wrath. For me, no other days can compete with those 29-30 days. For me, it is a period of extreme closeness to Almighty Allah- the most Gracious, the most Merciful.The] month of Ramadan comes with manifold lessons. It teaches us to be patient, humble, kind and persevering. It teaches us to control our desires and be extremely steadfast in our worship to Him. It teaches us from refraining from sin or bearing loss of temporary gains or pleasures, bearing hardships in obeying the laws of Allah and carrying out His commandments. It is a month of showing kindness and gratitude and asking for pardon.
[The] month of Ramadan is the standing place of prayer accompanied with companionship of brotherly affection, uniting all Muslims- rich or poor, learned or ignorant, urbane or rustic. Every one of us is subjected to the same level of adherence and obedience; abstaining ourselves from all the worldly pleasures and pursuits not only saves us but also shields us from the sins in this world and the hereafter. In this holy month, complete orientation towards life changes and this is a true test of our potential, as we adapt to a different set of pattern only to worship Him, please Him and to glorify Him.
Soon the days of Ramadan will pass away and the time of parting will come. This is [a] time of mixed feelings, as this month will leave us with loneliness but at the same time will make us glad that we have been able to do our little bit.
As I bid adieu, I beg for forgiveness for falling short but also ask to be blessed with many more Ramadan’s, InshaAllah.
I ask for His Rahmat “Ya – Hayyu Ya Qayyumu Birahmatika Astagees”;
I ask for His Barkat “Astagfirullaha Rab-bimin Kulli Zambi Wa Atuubu Ilaiih”;
I beg Him to save me from the hell-fire “Allahumma Ajirni Minan Naar”.
For all of us the true appreciation of this sacred month would be to fully carry out all its teachings and in doing so glorify the Owner of the kingdom of the earth and the heavens.
