1.3. MindLight: evidence-based game design
Video games hold immense promise as novel intervention engines
through which evidence-based techniques could be delivered
through an appealing context. But designing video games that can
compete with children’s high expectations for fun, immersion and
sophisticated design requires expertise that research psychologists,
by training, lack. The design and development of MindLight was a
cross-disciplinary collaboration among academics in developmental
psychopathology, clinicians, professional game designers
(artists and programmers) and the target users themselves
(children).
