Hi
Further to last week’s FTF meeting in KL, I’ve discussed with Moninder and we have aligned on a new direction for the placement and implementation of POSM of the ‘Play’ collection.
1. Placement
Our placement strategy is to ensure that the Play collection is placed in locations where we currently do not have our mice on display. This means that we will need to have them in incremental locations in stores and not in the existing locations, or in our branded bays. The rationale behind this is that we’re seeking impulse buying of these models and targeting consumers that may not necessarily be in the market for a mouse, but be attracted to the visual appeal of the collection. As part of this, it’s imperative that we have available in store shippers to hold and house the Play collection models.
We’ll need to endeavor to communicate this to our resellers when we begin to sell in the Play collection into the stores, but we’ll also need to ensure that our merchandisers that are actively adopting this principle when they are conducting their store visits to make sure that Play models are only visible in incremental locations.
2. POSM & Shippers
In order to simplify the deployment of POSM into stores, we will not adopt the below approach of producing ‘disposable shippers’ that are packed in distribution. Instead, we will produce ‘permanent shippers’ deployed in stores and replenished in-store by the reseller and / or our merchandising team. This simplifies the production process and also ensures that he quality of our POSM is still maintained. The same master creative will apply for the design as per below. All countries need to produce the shippers and POSM in Q1 in preparation for the Play collection launching. The shippers are an important element given the above placement strategy is to ensure that we have the Play collection in incremental positions.
Over the next two weeks, please ascertain what the best size is for the shipper in your stores by discussing this with your sales teams. For example, if a 3x4 size is too large, please instead utilise a smaller design, so long as it gets adopted by the stores and used! The last thing we want to do is produce these shippers to only find that they don’t get used in stores because they are too big. We can avoid this now by designing a size which best fits the stores requirements. Please also ensure that the material used on the shipper is of highest quality and that a solid acrylic material should be used – preferably in white.
We will also need to have out-of-the-box POSM display units of the Play collection in stores as well. Note that this needs to be in addition to the existing ‘Wireless Is More’ stands and should be in store to support the shippers. Ideally, we should have all 5 patterns of the Play collection on the demo POMS display, however should space be an inhibitor, please focus on the 3 character patterns for display. Please also see how we can integrate this together with the shippers.
Please have ready by draft 2 of the Q1 marcoms discussions (week beginning March 7) the estimate on the quantity of shippers, demo POSM units as well as the overall cost. Please also have ready further detail of the list of stores where we will have the demo POSM units and the shippers as well.
