In the Bangkok Noi room in the Royal City Hotel in Bangkok, Assoc. Prof. Dr. PhinitiRatananukul, Secretary General of the Office of the Education Council, presided over an academic conference on the preparation of a report on the direction to develop Thailand's education at the regional level. There was also a special lecture on the direction of Thailand's education development in the future. Dr. SomsakDolprasit, Director of the Educational Policy and Planning Bureau at the Office of the Education Council, presented the guidelines for preparing this report.



The mission of the Office of the Education Council is to prepare National Policies and Plans for Education. The current plans refer to the National Scheme for Education B.E. 2545-2559 (2002-2016).

As the plans are close to being completed, it is required to prepare a new National Scheme of Education for the long term / ten-year plan from B.E. 2560-2569 (2017-2026). The Office of the Education Council requested cooperation from the Regional Education Offices to prepare the direction for Thailand's education development at the regional level.



The Secretary General at the Office of the Education Council said that the education plans must cover educational roles in all ministries, not only the Ministry of Education. This is because other ministries, such as the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Cultures, etc. also play important roles in education management. The Office of the Education Council is working to prepare a National Scheme of Education. Its new responsibility includes preparing the plans for human resource development as well.
