Constant comparison described by Glasser and
Strauss (1967) and Glaser (1978), and operationally
refined by Lincoln and Guba (1985), was used for the
analysis. Units of meaning were identified in the transcripts
and coded through line-by-line reading. As the
analysis proceeded, these units of meaning were coded
into major categories of meaning. These categories were
then refined. Scientific rigour for the data analysis was
ensured using the criteria recommended by Beanland
et al. (1999). The researchers discussed the findings to
explore different perspectives on the data and reach consensus
on the final themes.
