have to have a permit for an au pair with a host family in Denmark if you are a citizen of a country outside the EU / EEA.

The purpose of an au pair placement
Au pair means 'on equal terms'. The idea of an au pair stay is that the au pair will live with a host family with children under 18 'on equal terms' with the rest of the family members. The aim is that the au pair can improve language and possibly. professional knowledge and broaden their cultural horizons by getting better acquainted with Denmark. In return, participating au pair in the domestic chores (eg cleaning, laundry, cooking, babysitting) for a family for a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 hours per day, maximum of 6 days a week.

Requirements for the applicant (the au pair)
The applicant must be 18 years old but under 30 years at time of application
The applicant must not be married, be in a stable relationship or have entered into registered partnership
Applicants must not have previously been married, lived in cohabitation or living in registered partnership
The applicant must not have children
The applicant must not wait child at the time of application. The requirement has not in cases where the applicant at the time of application already residing in Denmark as an au pair
