Demographic Data. A total of 30 participants received a postpartum phone call within
10 days post discharge with a mean of 5.63 days. The participants were discharged from the
hospital between March 23 and April 13, 2013. Thirteen participants or 43.3% who were 0 to 7
days post discharged were contacted on the first call attempt. For those participants that were not
reached during the first call, a phone message was left to let them know that another phone call
will be made 3-4 days after the initial call. With the second attempt, 40% of the participants were
contacted. They were between 4 to 10 days post hospital discharge. With the second attempt,
13.7% of the participants were not reached, a brief message and a letter was sent to these
participants.
