In "Sleeping Beauty", she is an evil fairy that wants to take over KIng Stephan's kingdom (and then, the world). When Princess Aurora grows up, she tricks her into pricking her finger with a magical thorn, and Aurora falls asleep. Then, she magically puts a series of thorny vines in order to prevent anyone from waking her up. However, Prince Phillip cuts throught the vines and wakes her up with a kiss. Enraged, Maleficent summons all her satanic powers to morph into a huge dragon, but Phillip kills her.
She is one of the guests in "House of Mouse", and one of the villains in "House of Villains". There, he is Jafar's girlfriend.
She is the main villain in all three "Kingdom Hearts" videogames.
In "Kindgom Hearts", she uses the Heartless to take over the Disney Universe, the Kingdom Hearts. She uses her magic to entice Riku and gain him as an ally, but Sora breaks the spell. After defeating all the Heartless, Maleficent powers up into her dragon form, but Sora defeats her. However, it turns out Maleficent was working for the evil sorcerer Xenahort, so Sora defeats him too.
In "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories", she makes a third attempt to take over the Kingdom Hearts, but is defeated again.
In "Kingdom Hearts II", she makes yet another attempt to take over the Kingdom Hearts, but her plans are interrupted by the arrival of Organization XIII. At the end, she understands that the Organization is a threat to even her, so she decides to give up and flee, bowing to meet Sora again.
