Multivariate
data analysis was successfully applied to evaluate
ammonium, nitrate, dissolved organic carbon and sulfate content
of landfill leachate. These parameters are strongly related to the
landfill age and the degradation state of organic matter in solid
waste. Nitrate and sulfate in the leachate reflect aerobic conditions
in municipal solid waste landfills and are of particular interest for
monitoring the process and success of in-situ aeration of landfills.
Dissolved organic carbon in leachates, which is related to the carbon
content in the percolated waste material
