Broccoli raab treated with 1-MCP (regardless of the presence of
ethylene) showed a mean weight loss of 4.5 g 100 g−1, almost 40%
lower than the untreated samples (Table 2); on the other hand,
there was no significant difference to be attributed to the presence
of ethylene in the storage atmosphere (regardless of the treatment
with 1LL−1 of 1-MCP), although samples in air enriched
with 100LL−1 C2H4 showed a higher mean value (7.1 g 100 g−1)
than samples stored in air (5.3 g 100 g−1) (Table 2). Weight loss
increased throughout storage in a different fashion among all treatments
with the highest final value of 13.0±5.4 g 100 g−1 in control
samples stored in exogenous ethylene and the lowest value of
5.4±1.7 g 100 g−1 in samples treated with 1-MCP and stored in air.
