More people use Social Media as a vehicle for information dissemination and communication due to its capacity for real-time and interactive information sharing. Even the public sector has started using Social Media as a tool to disseminate government information, to connect with members of the public, and to provide access to services. (Jaeger, Bertot, Shilton 2012) According to OECD (2001), engaging citizens in policy-making is one of the core elements of good governance. To be able to engage the citizenry, governments should employ the communication vehicle that is more accessible to the citizens. Social Media, gaining popularity as a vehicle for real-time information sharing, becomes a viable tool for government communication.
