The kinetics of EO release can be studied using different mathematical models viz., zero-order, first-order, Higuchi model, and Peppasmodel [131,132]. Zero-order release kinetics refers to the phenomenonof constant release of EO from the polymer independent of the concentration, while first-order release kinetics describes the release of EOfrom the polymer where release rate is concentration dependent.Huguchi model describes the release of EO from an insoluble matrix as a‘square root of time’ dependent process based on Fickian diffusion.
