Narcolepsy ■■ Excessive daytime sleepiness with uncontrollable episodes
of falling asleep, often associated with sudden muscle
paralysis (cataplexy)
■■No abnormal movements, no cyanosis, normal EEG
Benign
paroxysmal
vertigo
■■ Recurrent, sudden episodes of unsteadiness, occurring with
no warning and resolving spontaneously within minutes
■■Child looks pale and clearly frightened
■■Consciousness is always preserved
■■Normal neurological status and EEG
■■Often a family history of migraine
