The bioabatement microbe can induce
mechanisms to metabolize inhibitory compounds including furans,
aromatics, and organic acids present in lignocellulosic hydrolysates.
Thus, specially-selected and adapted strains such as C. ligniaria
NRRL30616 could be used as an alternative to physical or
chemical means of inhibitor mitigation, and may facilitate workable
processes for conversion of biomass to bioenergy.
