The rebuilding and expansion of Eikefjord primary and secondary school includes the main building with two floors of classroom wings and the current gymnasium including a floor located below the gymnasium. The aim of the assignment refers to the tearing down of the house to the framework while keeping most of the roof and the exterior wall structure intact. Some parts of the house will have to be removed completely in order to connect with the new building and establish a new traffic structure in the house between the classroom wing and the gymnasium.
Features of the redesigned areas will be classrooms, ICT room, library, gymnasium and an area for arts & crafts.
The extension runs over three floors and rooms within
the 2nd floor: administration, work areas for the pedagogues and staff wardrobes;
the 1st floor: food & health, student canteen with kitchen, common area and music rooms;
the 0. floor: nature & ecology, cleaning central and technical rooms.
In addition, please refer to that the pavilion is also a part of the project, but will only get a new ventilation system, and some interior and exterior renovation. The goal is that the rehabilitation shall not be a part of the general renovation that will trigger off TEK10 requirements for the entire pavilion.
The outdoor facilities will be upgraded in its entirety, with new parking spaces, relocation of the bus-bay and organization of the access traffic. The outdoor areas for students shall be in its entirety be extensively renewed. Excl. plumbing flowlines / systems and excluding electrical / telecommunications solutions enhanced by today's requirements and needs.
Both buildings and the outdoor facilities shall be designed through RIV, RIE and RIBs skilled trade requirements.
The Awarding Authority emphasizes that this building will be designed, built, and managed with minimum environmental impact. It is therefore envisioned a modern school and the Awarding Authority envisions a 50-year perspective for the building.
The design shall therefore implement environment as an integral part of the design.
This means that the environment will be placed an emphasis on in line with economy, functionality, technology, universal design and aesthetics when selecting solutions and materials.
The goal for the rehabilitated schools and the extension are of low energy house standard.
Certain measures will be considered among other factors that mix different heat pump for seawater
and for the possibility for the use of LED lighting. Further in the project we will develop strategies for energy efficient buildings with low energy consumption and lower operating costs.
It is important that designers take into account the challenges of construction and rehabilitation for the existing buildings.
The client does not want unforeseen expenses in the engineering phase.
The designers must have a sketch phase for the technical facilities and construction technique so that the final substrates drawings from the architect brings all of the aspects of the technical subjects.
Only the builder can initiate the changes beyond the consensual decision plan will provide the basis for the changes from the designers.
It must therefore be included in the price the sketch period for all of the technical subjects.
