3. Results
3.1. Effect of host species on immature development of P. xylostella
There were significant differences in the developmental times
from egg to emergence (F ¼ 173.83; df ¼ 7330; P < 0.0001) among
the host plants (Table 1). P. xylostella fed Chinese cabbage and
canola developed faster (15.5 and 15.7 days) than those fed other
plants, while P. xylostella reared on cabbage and broccoli developed
significantly longer (21.5 and 22.3 days) than on other plant species.
