All isolates were purified and primarily confirmed as LAB based on their microscopic and biochemical characterizations by performing the Gram's stain, catalase test, and O–F glucose fermentative test. All LAB isolates were stored at −80 °C in a freezing medium (Gibson and Khoury, 1986) until identification by amplified ribosomal DNA restriction analysis (ARDRA) and ribosomal DNA sequencing.
