This course builds on environmental and landscape knowledge from previous studies to provide the necessary policy and business expertise required of future countryside managers. Course structure: The course is based on a modular structure. A small core of compulsory modules covering a range of countryside management and policy issues is accompanied by an individual research enquiry. In addition, you will select a number of elective modules, from the extensive University list, thus enabling either greater specialisation in specific sector areas or a broader understanding of countryside issues. If you have already have secure employment, you may elect to study up to 50% of the course based in the workplace, thus reducing the time required to attend campus-based modules. Career opportunities: This course is specifically designed to equip you with the knowledge and expertise to gain employment within the conservation or countryside management sectors, for example statutory bodies such as Natural England and English Heritage, county councils, non-governmental organisations such as the National Trust, the Wildlife Trusts, RSPB or FWAG, or on large farms or estates.
