The first step of decomposition is below 150.00◦C due to the removal of moisture from the surface and entrappedwater in the sample. The second step occurred around 200.00◦C to 520.00◦C is due to the decomposition of starch backbone. According to Akar, Altınısik, and Seki (2012), the second step occurs because of the loss of CO2 from decarboxylation of carboxymethyl cellulose/starch.
