Prasat Ban Pluang is a magnificent site south of Surin on the way to Cambodia. It consists of a single unfinished tower, surrounded by a U-shaped moat. The lintels above the east entrance and above the other, though false, entrances are specially noteworthy. The eastern lintel shows the god Indra riding on an elephant above the head of Kala. Prasat Ban Pluang is one of the best maintained and one of the cleanest sites we came across so far and absolutely worthwhile the long drive.
