5.21. Anti-termite treatment
The site of the building is to be treated with anti-termite chemicals by Rentokil at the contractor’s expense prior to laying of any concrete slab and to be treated up to the practical completion.
5.22. Well excavation
Excavation well, unless on the drawing, be for a well of 1.8m internal diameter (approx. 2.6m external diameter) and 7.6m deep from the bottom of steining to top of cover.
Fill in the bottom of the well to a depth of 460 m Fill in the bottom of the well to a depth of 460 mm inside and to a minimum height of 3m around the outside of the steining with broken stone hardcore.
5.23. Precautions in blasting
If the contractor desires to blast, he shall obtain the necessary permission and licence from the commissioner of mines and shall comply with the dangerous goods ordinance, the dangerous goods (general) regulations, and the dangerous good (classification) regulations. In addition to the above, he shall adhere to all rules and special conditions that may be imposed by the commissioner of mines regarding the method of use, handling and storage of explosives, also the precautions that are necessary for blasting.
The contractor shall be solely responsible for any damage or injury to persons or property arising from blasting. If, however, the work is, in the opinion of the architect, conducted in such a manner that damage is likely to arise, the architect may order such modification in the number, position, size and depth of holes and weight of blasting charge as he may deem fit: but such order shall not relieve the contractor from his responsibility or from any of his any of his obligations under this contract.
The contractor shall erect screens and other protection works in such manner, positions and dimensions as prescribed by the mines department. He shall include the cost of all such protective works in his rates for excavation. No claim by the contractor will be entertained for having to erect more screens or protective work than he expected when he submitted his tender.
