There are at least three alternatives to position holders for resolving conflicts, complaints, inequities, or dissatisfaction arising out of the employment relationship (a) informal resolution, (b) grievance machinery, and (c) statutory alternatives filing a grievance. Table 10.1 shows tha informal resolution of complaints is an essential element of organizational justice and one which, when conducted properly, is generally beneficial to all concerned. Examination of Table 10.1 indicate various approaches to conflict resolution, uses of which are situational, depending upon the circumstances surrounding the complaint.
