I have to say that I am not inclined to call English unintuitive, but even if that was the case, as you say, there are a lot of resources available for learning it. The fact that we have all of these readily available still makes the argument for using it valid.
My reasons for disagreeing with calling it unintuitive is purely a reflection on my own situation. As one of those individuals that suffer hearing impairment and rely in hearing aids for everyday use, I still learned English before I started elementary school, before I started to learn Norwegian. That being said, I am not a natural in languages. I learned my English mostly from TV and by reflecting on the sounds any individual word makes to figure out its spelling. The grammar came naturally. My Norwegian however is at the same level even though I have had a great deal more time at learning it.
While my experiences are somewhat distinct, many of those around me have experienced similar results without English being natural. They find English to still be rather easy to learn despite having much less practice and exposure to it compared to other languages
