The first dimension is the degree of specificity in the nature of the resource, the second is the degree of explicitness and the third is the degree of tacitness in the knowledge content. These dimensions are illustrated in Figure 2. The degree of specificity relates directly to an action or the use of a tool. This means that if the degree is high, the resource is closely related to one specific task in the firm. A good example is the technological capabilities, in which the abilities in the R&D department are used only for further research and development of new technologies.
