The MDA level in the liver was measured as a marker of the total
liver lipid peroxidation extent. In two corn oil fed animal groups,
the MDA levels in CCl4 intoxicated rats were significantly higher than
CCl4− rats (Fig. 2, p < 0.05), indicating that CCl4 induced free radicals
accelerate the lipid peroxidation in the liver. However, the MDA
level of CCl4 treated animals fed with EVOO is much lower than the
corn oil group, suggesting that compared with corn oil, EVOO
reduced the lipid peroxidation induced by CCl4
