In 2003, the DTI commissioned a further report into ‘the Recruitment of Non-Executive Directors. This Report was in answer to a call made in the Higgs Report that the recruitment and composition of the boards of non-executive director should be subject of a separate examination. The Dean of the London Business School, Laura D' Andrea Tyson chaired the committee. The Tyson (2003) Report called for greater diversity but fell short of the idea that lists of qualified individuals should be compiled, from which non-executives could be drawn. Once again, the report was in an advisory capacity, and was given little notice. It seemed to call lot a similar approach to a US initiative to recruit more woman to the boardroom, but seems not to have captured the imagination this side of the Atlantic.
