Most companies will provide limited training for new software. It has been my experience that 70 percent of the people enrolled in the first training class are the same people that were in the last training. It is not surprising that they are also ranked in the top 10 percent. Community colleges and local universities also provide training. These classes are often given at night and on weekends. They are often taught by people that work in the industry. I once too micro-station training at the office and received the basic training. Although I had the basics I was not able to fully utilize the software,
I enrolled in an advanced micro-station class at the local university. After the training I had more knowledge of the software than any other person at my company.I was also offered a position in the instructors company. It is common for competitive firms to recruit individuals that are known to have good work ethics and strong technical abilities within the industry. It is also common for them to receive increases in salary of 15 20 percent. Your knowledge is your portfolio within your current work place or within the industry.
