The Kaem Ling Project in the Mahachai-Sanamchai canals performs the function of holding flood waters in the upper areas, at the same time releasing water into the Gulf of Thailand in relation to the tide levels of the sea and relying on an appropriate use of gravity and pumping stations.
The project comprises the construction of water gates and pumping stations in canals, which do not require huge investments but yield considerable benefits, and can be linked with the Kaem Ling Project in the Lower Tha Chin River to form an integrated system for efficient flood alleviation in Bangkok and its environs.
