In order to investigate the ability of ACS to modify and improve the performance of whitening machine in operational conditions, after off-line pretests, the machine was first adjusted and set into operation. A series of adjustments were initially considered in the control program that were as follows: sampling rate number and interval during the test, as well as the number of images captured from each sample. In the current research, the mentioned adjustments were equal to 3 times, 30 s, and 3 images, respectively. In order to determine the ability of the ACS in satisfying the quality monitoring of the processed product, samples of 50 g milled rice were collected from the discharge section of the whitening machine before and after each test run. Sample quality was then assessed by the experts. After completing the control process, all the adjustments made by the ACS for the level of pressure on discharge section were compared with the experts’ judgments.
