By interventions within an SEM framework, environmental complexities associated with obesity and recognizes the importance of parents as parents in addressing this pressing health issue. Research on parental involvement in reducing adolescent obesity that focuses on community and policy levels of the SEM can inform knowledge of how to strengthen interventions. Findings of this review point to the need to explore the extent of parental involvement, type, frequency, and quality of engagement, and compare outcomes associated with co-participation of parentand adolescents in interventions versus separate sessions.
