HabitatEdit
These pythons need a large customized terrarium that is approximately the length and width of the length of the snake. So a 20 foot long snake will need a 20 foot by 20 foot enclosure. They stay close to the ground, so height is not much of a problem. A entire room dediated to the snake is perfect for this species. African rock pythons need shelter as well. A large hide is perfect for this. More experienced herpers may be able to create a den if the substrate is deep enough. Half buried PVC pipes will work for a spartan set up. A soily sand should be used to replicate this python's savannah habitat. The substrate should not be too moist or blister disease can occur. Furnishings can include very sturdy low hanging branches, driftwood, large fake plants, and basking rocks.
