Last night, our server was hit by the worst DDoS attack we've experienced yet. It was a sustained and dynamic attack that was specifically designed to evade our existing DDoS protections. We now believe that the DDoS attacks are coming from someone who has played on our server and who has read our Global chat discussions about server configuration.
Our current host, Streamline-Servers, has apologized for the downtime but advised us that they can only adapt to new attacks as they come. Streamline has said that they cannot guarantee protection against what appear to be increasingly determined & sophisticated attacks. They also did not offer any compensation or account credit for the 12 hours of downtime that we experienced.
Xiaoli and I do not consider Streamline's response acceptable and have broken our annual contract with Streamline-Servers in response. We are now on a normal monthly billing cycle with them. We are also dissatisfied with the current CPU options available from Streamline's Singapore operations. Heavy CPU load, especially when many players are online, can cause lag and rubberbanding in ARK. Because of this, ARKAsia is actively exploring new Singapore-based server options. We will update the community when we have more specific details to offer.
As a result of these changes, pease do not make any additional PayPal donations via ARKAsia's Streamline Public Pay link.
Xiaoli and I are just as upset about this as y'all are, and we're still committed to doing what's needed to make ARKAsia the best server it can possibly be, even if that means ordering custom server hardware in the near future
