Many ageing services and assistive technologies have been developed to help the elderly people live healthily, independently and productively. Reasons are that most elderly people are prone to being socially isolated and feeling of being disconnected and unbelonging. Making the problems even worse, physical movement deterioration and visual, hearing and cognitive impairment in ageing population prevent the elderly people lead their lives the same way when they were younger. An interest in learning something new and being in the forefront of technologies is on the wane. Furthermore, they tend to have financially subpar buying power comparing to the younger adults since many of them are either retired or simply not working. Televisions or its related services, therefore, seem most viable for them. The interactive digital television, the ATS-Interactiva, was used for monitoring, providing treatment and support of patients by allowing doctors to assess the elderly patients’ medical treatments and health conditions through the observation of various vital signs such as weights, pulses, blood pressures, and glucose levels. The system also provided personalized reminders of taking medication.
