The Energy Policy Administration Committee (EPAC) has decided to maintain the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for household use at 22.29 baht per kilogramme for November, despite a rise in the global market price. Industry Minister Anantaporn Kanjanarat said the committee agreed to keep the current price to assist consumers, even though the reference price should increase in line with the global price. The government currently subsidises the cooking gas price through the state Oil Fund at 0.613 baht a kilo, at a cost of around 305 million baht a month. The fund has around 8 billion baht in reserve to manage the LPG price. It earlier collected 0.0827 baht a kilo from retail sales. The LPG global price seems to be stable for the moment, but if it should rise again in December the local price of LPG may have to be increased, Gen Anantaporn said.
