Mature but unripened RB (blends of local varieties, MR 219 and MRR 220) were purchased from the local market (Serdang, Selangor). All starches were prepared at the laboratory scale [21, 22]. RB maltodextrin of different DE group (DE 10–14, DE 15–19, and DE 20–24) was supplied by MARDI (Serdang). A 10% of commercial (COM) maltodextrin (DE 10–14) was used as a reference as it was known to produce high quality maltodextrin [22]. Multidex, a known commercial wound dressing agent containing maltodextrin, was used as a comparison purpose (DE 15–19).
