teenage cheerleader involved in a 3-wheeler accident sustained a severe proximal tibia fracture(left) resulting in popliteal artery disruption. Due to extenuating circumstances, a 14-hour warm ischemia time elapsed before successful revascularization with a vein graft was accomplished. A primary amputation was considered but instead lower leg fasciotomies were performed and she was treated immediately with HBO using the traumatic ischemia protocol. She obtained 100% survival of the muscle and regained normal function of her leg(right-photograph 1 year postop).
