Additionally, establishing
a mouse CMAP assay seems preferable than the
previously suggested rat CMAP assay, as the mouse assay is
easier to manage, requires less space for animals, and has
a lower manufacturing cost than an assay using rats.
Although more extensive studies are needed, this mouse
CMAP assay is a dose-responsive, sensitive, rapid and
technically easy assay for measuring the degree of inhibition
of muscle action potentials by BoNT/A.
