It is still unclear whether such a large number of regional cooperation mechanisms,
which are densely located in Central Asia, has enhanced the member countries’ integration
level and brought about the anticipated benefits for Central Asian countries. Linn
and Pidufala (2009) and Qoraboyev (2010) propose that the present integration agreements
and organizations fail to promote economic growth of Central Asian countries.
Mogilevskii (2012) holds that the effect of the EurAsEC Customs Union (CU) on Central
Asian countries is complicated and cannot be clearly defined in the short run.
