During the latter 1990s, resting eggs from some remote salt lakes
(e.g., Jingyu Hu and Aqqikkol Hu) in Qinghai–Xizang (= Qinghai–
Tibet) Plateau were harvested and processed commercially due to
increasing market prices. Although most of these eggs have high
hatching percentage (≥90%) in manufacturer's test, the final users
were often disappointed in that during the summer season the eggs
from certain salt lakes lost their hatching capability much more
quickly than the others. Such sensitivity to high temperatures was
certified for Lagkor Co (Xizang) eggs by the recent heating experiments
(Clegg et al., 2001; Van Stappen et al., 2003)
