sustainable development.Ahouseholdmodelthatlinkslivestock,biogasandcropproductionis
analyzed. Abasemodelwascomparedwiththreescenarioswithanincreaseincropyieldfromthe
use ofbioslurry.Theresultsdemonstratedthatinvestinginbiogasplantsonlyforenergyreplacement
would notgivefarmerspositivebenefits atthecurrentinterestrates.Thecombinedeffectsoflower
interestandincreasesinyieldcouldencouragefarmers'investmentsinbiogasplantsthatcouldleadto
increases inhouseholdincomeandfoodsecurityandreductionindeforestationintheregion.
