Highlights on 18 July, 2016 will be the mass merit-making ceremony to 3,000 Buddhist monks, the ceremony to give 89 elaborately-carved candles to Phra Phutthabat temple, the procession of the elaborately-carved candles as well as cultural and floral floats, and the opening ceremony. On 19-20 July 2016, Buddhist devotees and travellers are invited to Tak Bat Dok Mai or present Dok Khao Phansa to monks ascending Phra Phutthabat temple’s steps to pay respect to the Buddha’s Footprint s well as wash the monks’ feet as a way of making merit and washing away sins that will take place twice – once in the morning and once in the afternoon. There are also other entertaining and educational activities, including the artificial floral-making contest, educational displays on the Buddhist Lent, and cultural performances
